My career chose me. I found my passion for health, nutrition, and exercise at a young age. At four years old, I started gymnastics training and quickly learned that eating healthy food made me feel better, work harder and get stronger. I didn’t realize then that one day I’d work to empower others to take care of their bodies through doing what they enjoy and eating what they love, just as I have always done. Another passion that began at a young age was my love for cooking. I grew up in an Italian family and was fortunate to spend many summers cooking side by side with my grandmother. In any culture, including the Italian culture, food is at the center of life and family, and it is meant to be enjoyed. Whether I’m presenting a lecture in a corporate setting, directing conversation within a small group or consulting with a patient one-on-one, my philosophy is always the same – eating healthy is a balance of providing your body with nutritious foods while incorporating the foods you love, because the enjoyment of eating should never be lost. This is of course best matched with finding activities or exercises that we enjoy to keep our bodies in motion. These essentials will help us to build a life-long balanced relationship with food and our health.

I began my professional journey at East Carolina University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Nutrition, and continued my education at Boston University to earn my Masters of Science in Clinical Nutrition. I have worked in both the inpatient and outpatient nutrition setting, but Nutrition Education is my focus and passion. In 2004, I started a private practice, where I work with individual and corporate clients. In the corporate setting, I worked as the sole dietitian on a corporate wellness team for several Fortune 500 companies. In 2006 I merited the designation of Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist and spent thirteen years providing diabetes education at the prestigious Joslin Diabetes Center, a research and clinical center. There, I focused my expertise on diabetes prevention, education and treatment. Working with patients with and at risk for diabetes continues to be my specialty and passion. I’m energized and get so much satisfaction teaching patients the skills they need to keep themselves from developing complications and empowering them to lead a more healthy life.
