Lauren Sorel

Food, health and nutrition have always been prominent topics in my life. From a young age I skied, played basketball and ran competitively where I saw food as something that kept me happy and healthy. My view of food and nutrition shifted when I experienced a sports injury and watched many of my family members battle chronic diseases. As my viewpoint shifted, it didn’t take me long to realize that food is fuel and food is medicine (which is awesome). This realization led me to pursue a career as a Registered Dietitian where I found a passion for helping others via food and nutrition.

I am a Registered Dietitian (RD) and a Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) in the State of Massachusetts. I completed my undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Delaware followed by my Dietetic Internship at Massachusetts General Hospital. I have been working as a clinical dietitian at Massachusetts General Hospital for over 2 years now. I have a wide range of experience with different adult patient populations including liver &  kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, gastrointestinal diseases and heart disease. Over the last year, I have covered more specialty areas in both Neurology and Oncology which I continue to practice today. I love helping my patients optimize their calorie and protein intake as they work towards returning back to their daily activities, and also educating them on the nutrition role of symptom management during treatment. I am eager to bring my skills into the outpatient world where I hope to continue to help and support others through their nutrition journeys!
